The Ultra bass mute made from hard rubber reduces sound quite strongly compared to other mutes. While your neighbors might still hear your bass, particularly low frequencies with a farther reach are noticably quieter. The mute is pushed onto the bridge from above. Thick bridges can make this a little difficult and it may cause black scrub marks, but these can easily be removed with alcohol or fine sandpaper.
