The bassico double bass mute "Tourte" is made from soft plastic and is suitable for practice or orchestra playing. By putting the mute on the bridge, the instrument's harmonics are dampened, sounding softer and a little quieter. While the mute is not in use, it remains safely between bridge and tailpiece. This assures a quick reach for the mute when it is needed.
Tip: Wood mutes offer a stronger muting effect, but they are harder to reach during hectic sections as they have to be stored on the music stand or chair.
